The Vietnam Festival in Japan was first organized in 2008 on the occasion of the 35th anniversary of the official establishment of Vietnam-Japan diplomatic relations, so far the Festival has entered the 11th year and became annual operational exchanges of the two countries.
Vietnam Festival in Tokyo 2019 opened on June 8, 2019 at Yoyogi Park with the participation of Mr. Vu Hong Nam - Vietnamese Ambassador to Japan, Ms. Akie Abe - Lady of Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe , Mr. Natsuo Yamaguchi - Chairman of the Justice Party, Ms. Satsuki Katayama - Minister of Local Revival of Japan and some senior officials of the Government of Japan, representatives of Embassies of several countries in Japan, together with representatives of organizations, businesses and a large number of Japanese and Vietnamese people living and working in Japan.

Ambassador Vu Hong Nam opened the opening remarks and was pleased to announce that Vietnam has just been elected to the United Nations Non-Permanent Security Council, which was congratulated by Japanese friends with a round of applause. The Ambassador also said that this year's Vietnam Festival event will continue to deepen the good, friendly and trusting friendship between the two peoples.

The 11th Vietnam Festival of Japan held more than 120 stalls full of guests, especially traditional food courts, official theaters with contemporary music and Vietnamese Water Puppet stage. Visitors also have the opportunity to experience Vietnamese culture such as wearing traditional ao dai, taking souvenir photos with Vietnamese cyclo or participating in Vietnamese folklore games.

During the two days of the festival, famous contemporary music artists from Vietnam such as singers Uyen Linh, Pham Quynh Anh and Tuan Khanh (Microwave band) and programs of Japanese artists were attracted to young viewers from two countries. At the Water Puppet stage, Vietnam National Puppetry theater artists are also always enjoyed by Japanese friends.
This is a large-scale activity promoting Vietnam image in Japan. Many Vietnamese and Japanese companies have regarded the festival as an opportunity to promote brands and products to Japanese consumers.
Vietnam Festival 2019 takes place in two days June 8-9, 2019 and has attracted nearly 200,000 people to visit. The closing ceremony of the Festival is always the most emotional part. In the light rain, thousands of spectators waited and cheered for the final exciting performances. Before the Vietnamese national anthem is performed by Japanese artists next to the scenery of a Japanese-Vietnamese flag forest cannot be more beautiful.
As usual, the official song of the Japan-Vietnam Bilingual Festival was performed by artists from both countries to close a successful Festival season of 2019.
