Water Puppet Show

At 20.00 every day, the audience is lost in a cultural space full of ancient Vietnamese folklore with a shining pool stage decorated to resemble a temple façade, with ancient tile roofs in a strangely peaceful setting. The Vietnam National Puppetry Theatre offers special shows for children in Summer 2017, at 20.00 every Saturday and 10.00 every Sunday.

Here, you are entertained with different short plays including “The Soul of the Countryside”, a traditional water puppet show combined with installation arts. This art work was awarded the Gold Medal at the Hanoi International Marionette Festival in 2008. In addition, at the outdoor stage, you can enjoy stage puppet show “Country Rhythm” which was presented with the Championship Award at the Harmony World Puppet Carnival in Thailand in 2014.

Together with the Program Cultural Art Space “Quê trong Phố” (Countryside in Urban Streets”, you can learn more about the art of puppetry in the Theatre museum area and enjoy traditional food in the cultural-cuisine space "Góc Hà Nội" (Hanoi Corner) with different Vietnamese drink and food specialties.

In addition, the Theatre has two separate stages accommodating more than 250 audiences each with modern lighting and sounding systems with fixed weekly shows.

In the evening of July 12, the Vietnam National Puppetry Theatre launched an art program entitled “Quê trong phố” (Countryside in Urban Streets) , in the presence of Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism, People’s Artist Vuong Duy Bien, representatives from the Vietnam National Administration of Tourism and Hanoi Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism and over 200 travel and hospitality agents in North Vietnam and representatives from primary and secondary schools in Hanoi.
