ANTD.VN - As part of a series of programs to restart art activities after a pause because of the Covid-19 epidemic organized by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, the Vietnam National Puppetry Theater has launched to the audience the drama (puppet and human) titled "The fate of Kieu". The show just took place on the evening of June 18 at the Opera House.
Based on the classic work "Story of Kieu" by the great poet Nguyen Du, the play "The fate of Kieu" was adapted on the puppet theater stage with a breakthrough, creativity and experimentation. The show portrays the personalities of each character such as Thuy Kieu, Ma Giam Sinh, Tu Ba, Thuc Sinh, Tu Hai ... differently.
Director Nguyen Tien Dung edited and staged according to the language of the staging, which did not follow the chronological order of the Story of Kieu. In particular, the director chooses a few culminating events in Thuy Kieu's life. From the slanderous price of the silk seller, Vuong Ong's family fell into dire circumstances. Thuy Kieu had to fall twice in a green building, twice as a servant, and hardship for 15 years.

In addition to the "key" characters, the play also fictions two more important characters, Nguyen Du (the character of the Pen puppet) and Dam Tien (the form of the Chinese 4-chord lute). This can be seen as a very bright test of the drama-puppet structure. The transition classes really bring a lot of emotions to the viewers.
Scenes are handled with acts, engaging puppet shows, space, abstract and fanciful lighting combined with traditional music and contemporary dance, giving the audience the experience, the feeling is really impressive and unforgettable. In which, the tingling and tingling melodies have further depicted the fate of Kieu "three sunken - seven floating".
In addition, the puppet building shown by artist Le Dinh Nguyen has contributed to the success of the show. Director Nguyen Tien Dung shared, the biggest weakness of puppet art is that it is very difficult to act out her identity, because the puppet's face is inanimate, to express crying, laughing, mood, then happiness, joy, pain. suffering ... is not tangled face muscles. Therefore, a good artist will create the soul of that face by drawing.

Being trusted with the task of shaping puppets, the artist has successfully completed the task. He created the character of So Khanh with a puppet with 2 faces, which can be turned over and over because So Khanh is a girl trick, but the other side is a scholar, elegant. Or the character Thuc Sinh too, who is in love but afraid of his wife. The artist has shaped the puppet face by being able to reverse the puppet face from top to bottom. Entering to brothel, he is elegant and infatuated with Kieu, but when he comes home, he is afraid of his wife (Hoan Thu).
Despite the difficulty of an extremely arid form of puppetry, director Nguyen Tien Dung has succeeded in expressing the troubled fate of Kieu, which is portrayed with the talented pen of the great poet Nguyen Du.
With many successful experiments, the show "The fate of Kieu" won the Gold Prize at the 2019 International Experimental Theater Festival in Hanoi. At the night of June 19, Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism, Nguyen Ngoc Thien, attended and congratulated the artists.
