Outstanding performance of the home country stage in 2019 "The fate of Kieu" continues to be performed from October 18th to 20th, at Hong Ha cinema, Hanoi. Scenes in the play The fate of Kieu.
This is really a special gift that the artists of the Vietnam National Puppetry Theater give the audience on the occasion of the celebration of Vietnamese Women's Day 20/10 and the 200th anniversary of the death of the great poet Nguyen Du.
Originated from a literary script co-written by writer Nguyen Hieu and the author Le Chuc, "The fate of Kieu" is a poetic play told in a unique language of stage puppet art directed by People's Artist Nguyen. Tien Dung, Director of the Vietnam National Puppetry Theater, adapted and staged. At that time, although the psychological developments of the characters were still deployed according to the main conflicts of the original "Story of Kieu" (Nguyen Du), but in "The fate of Kieu" there were many changes to suit the puppetry.
It was interesting to enjoy the show, the audience entered the shimmering, fanciful stage space of the light and the resonance of the white silk ribbon image. This white silk ribbon has dominated from the way the puppet is shaped to the selection of the black puppet stage. At the same time, the stage design not only has 6 ribbons, but also shows the path of Kieu. From that stage space, the audience was able to "meet" Kieu, the silk seller, Ma Giam Sinh, So Khanh, Tu Ba, Thuc Sinh, Hoan Thu, Tu Hai ... not shown by the actors by bones and flesh but puppets. These characters are shaped, sometimes just a bamboo stick, sometimes just a piece of silk or a cover ... seemingly inanimate, but can cry and laugh, know how to dream, to know. angry, jealous ...
So, even in the form of dry puppet dance, thought it was just a small act for children, but "The fate of Kieu" has been fostered into a play that can make the audience excited. Having enough situations, the dramatic performance has been immersed once more in a new and attractive art space.
From here, each person not only once more sobs about the fate of the Kieu in the past, but also gloats over the habits of life, the character that are typical for yesterday and today. In particular, the highlight is that the building of the image of a man who sells silk is not only allowed to appear in a poem "Must be declared in a silk man" as in the original but appear throughout the play - the creator "the fate"for Kieu.
Or like, the audience had to laugh at the same time and then could not help but nod in front of the witty and hot-tempered performance acts. Especially, after so many moments of sadness, Kieu at the end still bears the spirit of the woman today when she dares to stand up and cut the word "karma" of fate "persistent" ...
Also known that before being released, "The fate of Kieu" was under a pressure because of suspicion from public opinion, especially researchers that: "Can a puppet presents character Kieu?". However, right from the first acting, the show convinced and seduced viewers by the director's clever and sharp stage handling. Therefore, it is not too surprising to participate in the 2019 International Experimental Theater Festival, the show excellently conquered not only the domestic audience but also the international audience by winning the gold award for the show with the same award. gold, 5 silver actors; Best director award ... Following that, on the recent anniversary of the death anniversary of the theater industry, the name "The fate of Kieu" continues to be voiced by the Vietnam Stage Artists Association to announce to the team when winning the award for Excellent Performance and Best Director of the Year 2019.
Talking about this success, director, People's Artist Nguyen Tien Dung shared: This is the happiness of an artist who has been cherished, anxious and constantly trying to have a Kieu of the stage over the past 10 years. And, this director still remembers the time he was like a person who "went into a trance" on stage when almost every way of handling drama situations was improvised right on the stage.
This joy is even greater when the show is not only to celebrate the festival but also has its own life when it has held many shows at the Hanoi Opera House, Hong Ha Theater and is always loved and received by the audience. Perhaps, this is a rare show of stage puppet show that mature audiences enjoy.
It was so happy that after character Kieu of Cheo, Cai Luong, speech drama, physical drama ... the stage puppet theater had her own Kieu.
