The Vietnam National Puppetry Theatre was established in 1956 and its headquarters was refurbished and upgraded in 2004 at 361 Trường Chinh Street – Thanh Xuân – Hanoi, about 100m from Ngã tư Sở Cross-Road.
It has a number of stages with modern sound and lighting systems which can serve audiences on three stages at the same time:

        - 1 indoor water pavilion with 236 seats

        - 1 indoor stage with 279 seats

        - 1 outdoor water pavilion with more than 350 seats.

At present, the Vietnam National Puppetry Theatre has three shows daily at 17.00, 18.30 and 20.00 h (for details, see performance program schedule). Every Sunday, it has a special show at 10.00am for children. At the Theatre, audiences not only enjoy water puppet art but also watch the puppet play “Country’s Soul” that combines water puppet and the installation art with great creativity that takes the art of puppetry to a very high plane.

With three art troupes, the Theatre not only serves its audiences at its headquarters but also organizes performance tours of both ground and water puppets in different places at order.

Coming to the Vietnam National Puppetry Theatre, you can not only enjoy the art of puppetry but also have a chance to visit and study this traditional art form at its Museum of Puppets inside the Theatre.

In particular, in a large area, the Vietnam National Puppetry Theatre does not only serve clients with puppet art shows but also parties under sparkling candle light with folk music and drum beats so that you can enjoy in the best way the traditional cultural quintessence of Vietnam during your holidays.
